If you are looking for a high end CPU air cooler then I would highly recommend the Noctua NH-U12P, with 4 dual heat pipes, 36 aluminium cooling fins, and a NF-P12 premium fan you can’t really go wrong.

The Noctua NH-U12P CPU cooler is currently one of the best air coolers on the market, coming in at a price of only $82, it is a great buy. Compared to the other market leading Thermalright coolers, which will set you back $70+ and then you will need to purchase a decent 120mm fan for another $25. This now leads me onto the quality of the NF-P12 fan, before even plugging the fan in you can see the quality in the premium SSO-bearings and 9 blade design, which allows for optimal air flow while keeping noise to a minimum. It also comes with adapters to control the fan speed, bringing quiet cooling to a new level.

The NH-U12P comes with mounting brackets to suit both the LGA775 and AM2 CPUs, using the SecuFirm Mounting System. With a sturdy back plate and easy to use screw on design, it sure beats the usual push in clips we see on standard LGA775 coolers. The fan clips also do a very good job at securely attaching the fan to the side of the heat sink, along with soft silicon strips to minimise vibrations from the fan, the overall build of the cooler is very sturdy.

My CPU: Intel Core2 Duo E8400 3.0 GHz @ 3.6 GHz – Idle temp: 28*C @ 1100RPM and 16.9dB

Specifications: (found at: www.noctua.at )

Dimensions: (without fan) H 158mm x W 126mm x D 71mm (with fan) H 158mm x W 126mm x D 96mm

Weight: (without fan) 600g (with fan) 770g

Materials: Copper (base and heat-pipes), aluminium (cooling fins), soldered joints & nickel plating

Good stuff, it's a great cooler. The Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme with the Noctua fan on it is another great combo, but that ads an extra $10-15 to the price. Not really worth it.

Also, if you are looking for a good place to get the cooler, try PC Case Gear, Quality case accessories and components I purchased mine from there and had really great service and only took 24 hours to get here after they shipped, and that wasn't even with express post.
